One clip. A clear maximum.

How to make your video smaller

  1. Choose a preset

Start with a target above, or open Full controls for a custom maximum and video settings.

  2. Select your video

Choose a local file. Review the selected maximum, any resolution cap and the advice before compressing.

  3. Download and review

Save the result and check its quality. Upload or attach it in your destination app yourself.

Keep small text readable

Try original resolution first. Lowering frame rate may be less disruptive for a mostly static desktop than reducing resolution, but check cursor movement and animated demonstrations. A smaller maximum always leaves less data for the recording.

Remove the irrelevant footage first

Trim pauses and unrelated windows in an editor before compressing. This tool does not redact passwords, crop a desktop or shorten a recording. Check the footage for sensitive information before uploading it.

Questions about Screen recordings

Will this hide private information on my screen?

No. Redact or remove sensitive material before selecting the video.

Why does my tutorial become blurry?

The target may leave too little data for fine text. Choose a larger maximum, shorten the footage separately or adjust settings and compare the result.

Can I change a preset?

Yes. Full controls opens the normal size ruler, custom maximum, resolution, frame rate and audio settings. Switching controls keeps the selected file. Presets set a maximum; the actual result can be smaller.

Will every video reach this size?

No. Very small targets can be unsuitable or fail for a long or detailed clip. Read the advice, try lower resolution or choose a larger maximum. Compression does not trim video or bypass a destination’s content and account rules.
