One clip. A clear maximum.

How to make your video smaller

  1. Choose a preset

Start with a target above, or open Full controls for a custom maximum and video settings.

  2. Select your video

Choose a local file. Review the selected maximum, any resolution cap and the advice before compressing.

  3. Download and review

Save the result and check its quality. Upload or attach it in your destination app yourself.

What fits inside 500 MB?

At a 500 MB ceiling, a one-minute clip has a total average bitrate budget of about 66.67 Mbps before container overhead and safety margin. A five-minute clip has about 13.33 Mbps. Audio uses some of that budget too, so longer footage needs more visual compromise.

Check your SizeVideo plan

Free encoding supports maximum targets up to 200 MB. Encoding at this larger target requires SizeVideo Premium, regardless of the plan on your destination platform. A smaller file that already fits can be downloaded unchanged without an upload.

Questions about 500 MB

Will the result be exactly 500 MB?

No. It is an upper bound; an encoded result can be smaller. SizeVideo verifies encoded output against the selected byte ceiling.

What if my original is already below 500 MB?

If the original fits and no video changes are selected, download it directly without uploading. An unchanged source keeps its original format.

Can I change a preset?

Yes. Full controls opens the normal size ruler, custom maximum, resolution, frame rate and audio settings. Switching controls keeps the selected file. Presets set a maximum; the actual result can be smaller.

Will every video reach this size?

No. Very small targets can be unsuitable or fail for a long or detailed clip. Read the advice, try lower resolution or choose a larger maximum. Compression does not trim video or bypass a destination’s content and account rules.
